Abstract

This conference focuses on the exploitation of kola plants beyond consumption by deploying the latest technologies to extract more benefits from kola and its relatives. With articles ranging from breeding/cultivation of kola plants, commerce, kola nanobiotechnology, kola in folk medicine, kola in catalysis, phytochemistry, kola in animal feeds, preservation and safety to historical/cultural values of kola presented, the conference will push forward an agenda for the exploitation of kola plants within the paradigm of circular bioeconomy towards diversification of Nigeria‘s economy. The conference, with the theme ‘Treasure beyond consumption: exploring kola for sustainable development’, was organized by Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Nanotechnology Research Group (NANO+) in conjunction with the Pan Africana Strategic and Policy Research Group (PANAFSTRAG), Lagos. The conference was held on May 6-9, 2024 at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.
